Superyacht for Rent: "AKIKO"

The superyacht AKIKO is unlike any other yacht: it’s an invitation to travel to those corners of the globe that so few are lucky enough to visit. Built in 2007 in New Zealand by the prestigious Alloy Yachts shipyard, this 34.2-meter expedition yacht (winner of five major awards at the 2008 World Superyacht Awards) lives up to its name: in Māori, Akiko means “far from home.” Completely refurbished during successive refits (the most recent of which included a hull extension, a complete interior overhaul, and a new paint job), she combines the ruggedness of an explorer with the refinement of a floating art gallery, featuring her collections of Melanesian and Australian Aboriginal artworks. Her exceptional beam of 7.8 meters provides her with spaciousness rarely found on a 34-meter yacht and remarkable stability at sea. On board, five cabins accommodate up to 12 guests for cruises off the beaten path, with family or friends.

On board the Alloy 112 “AKIKO”

The AKIKO was designed for exploration without compromising on comfort. Its aluminum hull and architecture, designed by Gregory C. Marshall, allow it to navigate through small bays, anchor behind coral atolls, and travel up inland waterways—playgrounds inaccessible to traditional superyachts. Its spacious living areas, bathed in light through floor-to-ceiling windows, along with its movie theater, bar, and gym , make it a true haven between stops. The stabilizers, effective both underway and at anchor, ensure consistent comfort.

In terms of accommodations, the master cabin spans the full width of the bridge deck, featuring 180-degree panoramic windows, a walk-in closet, and breathtaking views of the horizon. A full-width VIP cabin with a king-size bed and bathtub, a double cabin, and two twin cabins (ideal for children) round out the layout, all with private bathrooms.

Captain Bob, with his wealth of charter experience, leads a dynamic and friendly crew of six, renowned for their knowledge of remote regions. The AKIKO even offers unique opportunities to partner on ocean research: the trip of a lifetime—literally.
